Security of web based software
Web-based or Software as a Service (Saas) is where the software application is stored on a remote server, and accessed via a web-browser or mobile device.
As the data and software is not stored on the PC at the office, it is natural to have concerns. We hope this will address those.
Are the computers secure and reliable?
The servers are located in a secure data centre. This can only be accessed by authorised personnel. The network and infrastructure are monitored 24-7. As well as having redundant network, the power is backed up by a UPS (big battery) and a generator.
Is my data backup up?
We have automated backup routines. These backup your information on a regular basis, and the backups are physically stored separate to the servers for extra security. For added peace of mind, you can also export your client and appointment data your self.
I’m worried who can see my information
Your version of Malinko is password protected. Without the password, no-one else can access your Malinko system. The first account is an Administrator, which give you full access to the software. You can add additional users for your staff, but limit what they can do (eg they cannot configure the system)
What happens when a new version of Windows comes out?
Because you access your Malinko software via a web-browser, you can use it from any computer that has internet access and a web browser. So if you need to update or replace your PCs, your system will stay up and running. We automatically check that new updates to software like Internet Explorer will carry on working. We will automatically update the software, so you don’t have to do anything.
What if my PC crashes?
If your computer crashes it’s not the end of the world! Your software is accessed ¬†from the PC’s web-browser, so all you need to do is load up your software from a different PC. You can also access it from a laptop with a data card, or even a mobile phone. You will need to remember your username and password, as this will be required when you try and log in from a new computer.
